Tembisa Child Welfare has been in existence for 38 (Thirty Seven) years. The organization\u2019s major aim is to look after abandoned, abused, and lost; HIV\/AIDS infected and affected orphaned, neglected and battered kids.\u00a0<\/strong>These kids are then placed with foster care or adoptive families. Those who are not having foster care or adoptive families are looked after in our two Children\u2019s Homes.<\/p>

A, INTRODUCTION<\/u>:<\/b><\/p>

For the year 2023 we have made plans to help not the children in our care only but to also extend our projects to the community due to high unemployment rate and poverty within the community of Tembisa, Phomolong and Winnie Mandela Areas.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

B, PLANS<\/u>:<\/b><\/p>

1. Early Childhood Development:<\/b><\/p>

  • We need to increase more kids in our Pre-schools. Therefore, we need to employ 2 qualified Teachers.<\/li><\/ul>
    • We also need to take 4 existing Teachers to study NQF level 4 in ECD and 3 Teachers to study NQF level 5 in ECD.<\/li><\/ul>
      \u00a0<\/div>

      We have a certificate to teach Grade R at our 2 (two) Pre-schools.<\/p>

      \u00a0<\/p>

      2.\u00a0Protection of our OVCs (Vulnerable Children) and their families:<\/b><\/p>

      • Besides children in our 2 Children\u2019s Homes, we have foster-care children in approximately 1500 families. Some of these families are very poor to an\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 extent we had to augment their survival with \u201cfood parcels\u201d. Therefore, we have planned food gardens using Urban Farming for 100 (hundred) families\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 as a start. We need Garden tool<\/b>s<\/u><\/strong> and seeds<\/b><\/u> for these families to seriously learn food production in their small gardens. We desperately need a young\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 man and a woman to supervise that these gardens to become a success. This will help families not to depend on hand-outs like food parcels!<\/li><\/ul>
        \u00a0<\/div>
        • We are going to recruit 20 people (man & women) to learn sewing skills<\/u>, <\/b>i.e. clothes production. Both the food garden and the sewing group will be\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 trained on entrepreneurship skills to be able to sell what they produce. We will need raw materials and cottons to teach this groups.<\/li><\/ul>
          \u00a0<\/div>
          • We will also recruit 20 man & women at a group of 5 people per 6 weeks to learn Baking<\/u> <\/b>at our centre. We will need ingredients like flour, margarine,\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 eggs, pans, mixing bowls, etc, to teach the Baking group. They will also be taught entrepreneurship skills.<\/li><\/ul>
            \u00a0<\/div>

            NB<\/u>: <\/b>\u00a0\u00a0As we do our normal work of foster care among the communities, we also come across survivors of GBV (Gender Based Violence). We will also include\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 these groups in our training, partnering with POWA (People Opposed to Women Abuse). As we train people we hope to get Cooperate World\u2019s donations\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 of\u00a0Sewing\u00a0<\/u>Machines<\/u><\/b>, Small Gas Stoves<\/b><\/u> (for Baking); Gardening Tools & Seeds<\/b><\/u>.<\/p>

            • Once a quarter our Social Workers will visit Schools to talk against Teenage Pregnancy<\/b><\/u>, HIV\/AIDS<\/b><\/u> and saying \u201cNo to Drugs\u201d!<\/b><\/u><\/li><\/ul>

              g, BAKERY EQUIPMENT<\/strong><\/p>

              \u00a0<\/p>

              Tembisa Child Welfare have a Bakery and produces Bread to our Children\u2019s Home. We make about 20-30 loaves of bread daily for 46 children for their lunchbox. We also make another 20 loaves for our 2 Pre-schools. Lastly, we sell scones\/buns, biscuits, cupcakes and muffins to the community. Currently we are struggling because our Bakery Equipment is damaged, we therefore need the following equipment:<\/p>
